Save the trees and kill the children.
One of my favorite quotes in a song is Casting Crowns song O Little Town of Bethleham. In the third verse they sing of our country and it goes like this.
United States of America looks like another silent night. As we are sung to sleep by philosphies of save the trees and kill the children.
I was on facebook today and one of my friends from high school was doing a survey that they wrote a note about and one question was what are your thoughts on abortion. Their answer absolutely ripped open my heart. And of course this person always talks about equality and love and save the earth. But the babies well we can murder them. They are not humans anyway. This was their answer:
Explain what you think about abortion
Do it.... especially if you dont want it, and are going to put it up for adoption. There are way too many people in this world to go around.....we dont need more unwanted babies.

NO EVIL?????
I am sitting here in the computer lab waiting for my lovely fiance to get out of class so we can go home (different homes. I have no car though so she is my ride). As I sit here I thought I might as well maximize my time, so I decided to listen to Ravi Z instead of play neopets (that and the fact that I would be whipped if seen playing neopets in the lab) and he was talking about why he can't be an atheist. He was talking about the moral law and then he said this from Richard Dawkins:
"Dawkins has gone so far as to say we have to deny the reality of evil if our argument is
going to stay."
WOW. Any person in their right mind knows how evil this world is. Sad that someone would rather deny evil than recognize Christ. Or at LEAST recognize that there is evil and that there absolutely HAS to be a moral law. The time is 10:47 (Rush Limbaugh voice)
Top Ten Speakers
Another thing I will be starting is my "Top Ten Lists". This list will consist of my top ten favorite people I have ever heard speak.
10. Matt Johnson- He was a music leader at Camp Barakel in Michigan where my old youth group used to take trips to. He was absolutely incredible. He was very passionate and reached me personally.
9. Pastor Cal Emerson- He was my childhood pastor at Northgate Wesleyan. I loved pastor Cal very much and I enjoy when I have been able to go back and listen to him preach (although it has been probably half a decade since I was able to). It is very easy to tell how much Pastor Cal loves people. I always enjoy talking to him, and enjoy listening to him.
8. Pastor Scott- My pastor up in Mt. Pleasant. He is a hilarious guy who most definitely has the gift of humor. He also definitely has a heart for the Lord. He enjoys teaching the Word and I certainly enjoy listening.
7. Mark Driscoll- ahh good ol Driscoll. I must admit I very rarely listen to Driscoll, mainly bc I don't have the time to listen to a whole sermon. Still, when I do listen to him I fervently enjoy his passion for Christ. He is a very funny man and has most certainly encouraged me to become a more manly man.
6. Allistar Begg- Begg is an absolutely awesome speaker. I subscribe to his podcasts and I have thought upon sermons such as suffering and anxieties (especially the latter). I don't know if it is the accent that draws me in, but something does.
5. Jerry Goinea- (not sure how to spell the last name so I will refer to him as Mr. G) Mr G was my favorite teacher of all time. Everyone else hated him because he was so strict, but I absolutely loved him. He had such a passion for Christ and desperately wanted to share that passion with his students. He is the one person that helped me the most in my beginning months of being a Christian. I would ask him questions and talk with him about struggles. A great man and I wish I could tell him. (The only reason he is not higher is because him speaking was not as fun. English teacher yuck)
4. Tom Harmon- I personally believe that I am came to Christ during one of his sermons. Listening to him was absolutely amazing. He had such a knowledge of the word and he was incredibly entertaining.
3. John Piper- THE MOST PASSIONATE GUY I HAVE EVER HEARD. No matter what it is John Piper will put all his passion in it. His knowledge is amazing, and the way that he answers questions and struggles is amazing. He never answers without serious thought. And every answer he lays out with love and thoughfulness. Amazing speaker
2. Ravi Zacharias- Kudos to dad for turning me on to this guy. He has such a knowledge of both Western and Eastern culture. I can't get enough of Ravi. He just has incredible knowled of, not only Christianity, but other religions too. I have never listened to Ravi and not come away without an incredible amount of knowledge. Shows how much smarter he is than me.
1. Dad- I don't know what it is, but there is just something about listening to your father speak. I think there is just an added bit of personal feelings to it. I believe that he is one of the most passionate people I have ever met. Maybe it has something to do with the glory of sons is their fathers, but my father is who i enjoy listening to the most. I don't think he knows it, but my favorite sermon ever is by him. it was one of our first years at Graham and he spoke on 1 Corinthians 9:24-27. (Don't get cocky dad. ha ha ha)
*At the bottom of every top 10 will be my number one LEAST favorite.
Number 1 Least Favorite Speaker......................................Joel Osteen. even before I knew that he preached the prosperity gospels.

For You Dad
This article is for my dearest father. Growing my father would practically force oatmeal down my throat. Essentially forcing me to be healthy and forcing me to eat right. Can you believe it? Well this article proves that Oatmeal and OJ is one of the best breakfasts you can eat. Granted, the study was inadvertantly done by the makers of some oatmeal and Oj.
Worst Case Scenario_1
My new segment entitled Worst Case scenario. In this first installment I will tell you the worst case scenario of this news article. A warning: I am a pessimist at heart. So those who don't like to hear worst case scenarios (my Fiance) or hear things that are not fun to hear stop reading and go watch some Barats and Bereta videos. In this article there will be armed troops deployed in the U.S. Now an optimist would say yay we are protected. But unfortunately the title is not Best case Scenarios. Ready? ok worst case scenario is that this is just another way for the government to keep tabs on us. As we fall deeper and deeper into a totalitarian government. Go watch V for Vendetta and look at the government in that movie. We are headed to an incredible amount of power towards the federal government, specifically, the executive branch. As our leaders break more and more rules this country keeps sliding down a slow shallow slope, but when we reach the bottom of that slope we will look around and say "How did it come to this?". And we will look back at all the little decisions and compromises we made, such as, these new troops. And that is the worst case scenario.
For all those that are so sad right now........
*Best case is they protect us and Americans are safer and happier buying more and this one act turns the global economy around.

My head hurts.......OH NO IT'S BC OF GLOBAL WARMING
Nowadays people will say whatever they want and blame it on global warming. Morons. People do not do ANY research. This article is beautiful My favorite part:
"Climate Warming ceased in 1998 and has been on a downward trend since 2002 with a sharp decrease since 2006."
People are sheep. Stupid sheep.
Signs of the Apocalypse_3
This one time I saw a bear and I was like "Oh hey I think I want to give that bear a hug" but then I was like "WAIT no I don't because it is a FLIPPIN BEAR". Apparently that second thought did not cross this guys mind

Ravi and the World
My father put up a post on his blog this summer about how Ray Boltz was announcing that he was gay. His reasoning like so many professing "Christian" homosexuals is that God made him have these desires. If God did not want him to be gay why would he have these desires. To so many college students this is such an obvious and convincing argument. Yet, I have lustful desires toward women. Hate to say it. Don't enjoy it but the simple fact is that my eyes are not pure. And if any guy says his eyes are pure I would love to meet him and hear his secret. It is a constant battle, one that (according to all old dudes that I have talked to)* will haunt me and pressure me until I am called home. Yipee for me. Anyway Ravi had this to say about Christians who do their own thing and make it look like they are doing God's thing:
"I have met people who have justified adultery by saying God led them into this relationship. I have seen men who have left their wife and children and said God has led them into this other relationship. A man commits adultery thats bad. A man who commits adultery and then justifies it that is worse. Matthew Arnold said 'Hypocrisy is that kind of a sin which even vice will pay a compliment to virtue"
*A pastor once said in his sermon that Dr. Gary Smalley said he realized that he was a lustful person and fought it and now no longer has one lustful thought. Imagine that.

The Michigan Plague
These kinds of stories are always scary to hear when you know where it is and you actually know people at the college. The Hope College Plague of 2008.

C.S. Lewis is a smart man
More podcasts people. Might need to get used to this. Of course by people I mean my father mother and the occasional person that accidentely put the wrong url in. Anyway I was listening to Ravi again today and he gave this C.S. Lewis quote which is awesome:
"Pride is like a cancer that will rob you EVEN of common sense."

WOAAA PODCASTS!!!
So I just found out what podcasts are and that they are freeeee. I just subscribed to a few. Today I was listening to two people and both had excellent quotes in them The first was by Ravi Zacharias. He was talking about Gandhi and Christ. This is what Ravi said about Gandhi
Many Things he wished he could remove (of the Christian faith). Many things he didn't understand, many thing he didn't like. But the most powerful truth in the Christian gospel is unmatched anywhere else. It is the cross of Jesus Christ.
The Second is by Alistair Begg decribing "wisdom" and universities in relation to Jeremiah 9:23-24
There is a sense in which the average university campus is a microcosm of western
culture unraveling at the very fountainhead of intellectualism. We are supposed to
anticipate that if there is an answer anywhere presumably it is here. Presumably after
all this time man in his wisdom has been able to sort it all out. But of course even to
say that sounds ridiculous. You only need tomorrow's newspaper to know that we are
not sorting much out at all. And the word of God is.....You shouldn't boast in your
wisdom. Some of the worst graffiti that you can find, the cleverest and rudest graffiti
is found in University campuses. Wisdom is not synonymous with goodness.
Mr. Begg certainly knows college campuses.

Hot Bed for Confrontation
This whole area of Southeast Asia is just a hot bed. IT is scary to think about what could happen with all the power over there. Whether it be relations like this between the Korea's or China and Japan or China and North Korea. I am told by my Asian history professor that the DMZ is one of the scariest most dangerous places on earth.

Traditions baby
It is halloween time and I am so excited. I am a huge fan of traditions. My family has about a bazillion traditions and I absolutely love them. Last year I started a tradition with my fiance on halloween. We get pizza and candy and then watch some scary movies. Well, OUR kind of scary movies. Which means last year we watched Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park 2. Both were excellent. This year we are making it a 2 night event and watching Jurassic Park (that has become an every year tradition) and Jaws the first night. The second night we are watching Sorry Wrong Number and And then There Were None. I am soooooooo excited. The reason I love traditions like this is because it kind of brings people together. Like Since the beginning of October we have both been very excited. It is gonna be sweeeeeeet.
Signs of the Apocalypse_3
Well it seems as though it will be decided by a jury if paddling is child abuse. According to this story the kid had bruises. My father paddled me. Do I resent him? I think it has caused a void in our relationship. A void that can only be filled by a big bear hug. I don't think he will go for that. Did I get bruises? No. But I think I got emotional bruises. Sniff sniff. My mother also paddled us, but my resounding picture of her paddling was when she spanked my older brother and he started to laugh. My mother's serious face could not contain the laughter. Ahhh good times good times. I personally am all for spanking. One time my dad gave me an ultimatum. I could pick up all the sticks in the backyard or get a spanking. Well I feared spanking like the plague so I picked the chore. SO my dad used spanking to get chores done. What a manipulator.

Colbert shows how a REAL presidential debate should be like
I love Colbert. I laughed so hard at this. He is just so accurate.
REL 101 (60 seconds instead of a semester long)
Wow. These guys are talented. And have loads of time on their hands.
Guys at College
This may be inapropriate to some people but this very accurately describes 80% of the guys I meet at college. No joke.
The TRUTH about Global Warming
I read this in a news article. This lady is so smart. She has totally figured out Global Warming!!!!!
"The Global warming debate has developed a pattern: In Part A, a scientist makes a scary claim and gets headlines for himself, and his funding source, across the known world. In part B, a few months later new evidence blows the scary claim away- but no press coverage of its demise"
SO beautiful. I could not have put it better myself.
Ghost Lions
I would be so scared if I saw a lion like this in the wild. Well I would be scared to see any lion, but a white lion.....yikes. I would probably pee my pants.
We are all gonna die
Thats right Climate Change (no longer global warming, mainly because it is really cold in the winter) is gonna kill us all. OHHHH NOOOO. My favorite part of this is how in the article the talk about the Arctic and how summer ice will soon disappear. But they have a picture of a penguin?!?!? There are no penguins in the Arctic????? Morons. Doing crap for sympathy

Gotta Love Animals
I am a big fan of pictures of nature. The penguin picture reminds me of my little bro bro. He used to have like a gajillion stuffed penguins. They were by far his favorite. I really think the picture of the penguin looks hilarious.

Good ol Wildfires
When I was a kid we used to go to Southern California every year. It is actually my fondest memory of my childhood. One year there was a big wildfire close to where we were staying and I remember going to this lake to swim and I asked my mom "Mommy why is it snowing in California. It is the middle of summer>???" Well she told me it was ash coming from the fire. I won't ever forget that year. You really can't imagine how amazing a wildfire is until you aren't very far away and ash is falling like snow. What frustrates me about stupid liberals in Michigan are these morons who get so mad that California allows Wildfires. Granted if it gets too dangerous I agree something should be done, but without wildfires new forests would never grow in California. And if they did not allow them then the forest would start to die making it incredibly easy for a major major wildfire to start much dangerous than the one that should have happened. What's the point of this? Wildfires may seem incredibly dangerous, but without them we can not have new life. Interesting how God creates new life in forests by destroying them. Awesome

Geoff Moore is Awesome
The Grammy nominated singer (as he was introduced at my church) was at our church this past weekend. Wow he is really awesome. He talked about how he and Steven Curtis Chapman are very good friends and how tough it was for the Chapman family to go through what they had to go through. He said that he and Steven Curtis Chapman write songs together and that all the good ones that Steven Curtis Chapman sings were mostly written by him. Ha ha he is a funny dude. His best story though was this one: His wife came up to him one day and asked him to pray for something. She asked him to pray about adopting a child from around the world. He agreed, but what he said was she was not specific enough. He was praying about it, but he was praying that God would bring her back to her senses. Well apparently his prayer worked because he does not have one daughter from around the world. HE has TWO!!! What he said though that I loved was "God is so amazing because he gives us everything we ever wanted even before we realize we actually want it." Both his daughters are from China and were either abandoned in front of a doorstep or under a bridge. Then he told a story about his 5 year old Chinese daughter. She asked him "Daddy did Jesus know my name before you and mommy came to get me". he gave her a resounding YES and then he told us "And because of that her and I like to sing this song together. THen he sang "He Knows My Name." Awesome guy.

Persecution for Christ
These Christians in Iraq are being persecuted. I personally believe that my generation is going to be a very persecuted, if not, the most persecuted in history. Maybe the generation after me. Well as Paul says, For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake. I hope and pray that when my time for persecution comes that Christ will be with me and I will be ready with Him

Election 08
I think this video pretty much sums everything important up. This is my kind of politics.
2nd Best Commercial Ever
In light of election season I thought I would put up my favorite commercial of all time. Well 2nd favorite. It came out right before the George W Bush vs Al Gore election. Hysterical.
Holocaust Denied
This was back in 2007, but the Holocaust history is being dropped in some UK schools for fear that it might upset muslims in the schools who support holocaust denial. Wonder if they would do this for Christians and evolution..........wait nevermind.
Medal of Honor Denied
This marine was denied a Medal of Honor but was given the second highest medal, the Navy Cross. The soldier after being shot in the face, by what is believed to be friendly fire, absorbed the blast of a grenade by cradling it under his body. Greater love has no man than this that he lay down his life for his friends. Whether he gets the Medal of Honor or the Navy Cross makes no difference to me. A hero is a hero.
40 Brave Soldiers
When I was young one of my brother's best friends was accidentally shot. At one memorial for him his father played this song because it was one of his son's favorites. I finally found it. It is a great song. I have no idea what the website is about, but the background song is that song that his dad played.

Love Javon Ringer
I am a huge MSU fan and I am loving Mark Dantonio. Javon Ringer is an amzing running back, but man after this video I really love him. Upstanding guy.
Signs of the Apocalypse_2
Wow. What a crazy world we live in. Teenage boy hires men to kill his mother so that he can use her money to buy his girlfriend implants. Horrible world.
Race an Issue in the Election?
An interesting talk one of my professors had. He said that back in the early 90's where he was living there was an election for governor. The Republican was white and the Democrat was black. Before election day the polls had the Democrat ahead 60-40. On the day of election they interviewed people and asked who they voted for and found out that the Democrat, according to those polled, won about 60-40. At the end of the day the Democratic candidate ended up winning but only by about 51-49 or 52-48. Come to find out that many people lied about who they voted for because he was of a different color. My professor's deduction from this is that Obama needs a big lead going onto election day because he believes many people will do the same they did back then. My deduction? I personally think that no issue of race is gonna stop the Democrats. I think that so many Americans are fed up with the Conservative Republican president that they would vote for a cow over another Republican. That's just what I think though. I think that it could be very possible that people will not vote for Obama strictly because of his skin color. Who knows maybe they won't vote for him because of his name. Barak Hussein Obama? Can you imagine what people would have said on September 12, 2001 if we had told them that their next president would be a man named Barak Hussein Obama? Amazing how history shapes things.

Way to go Terminator
Yes that's right. The Terminator has just signed a bill to outlaw text messaging in California while driving. Way to go. How are they going to enforce this? No clue, but I think and hope it will save lives. Dangerous business texting while driving.

I Love The Office
Ahhhh it is almost here. The Office is definitely my favorite show. If you have never seen it I encourage you to. Here is a little promo for the next season. Even if you have never seen The Office this clip is still funny.
Signs of the Apocalypse_1
This right here is why I hate PETA so much. Wanting to use human breast milk instead of cows?? One of their reasons is because cows only produce milk during and after pregnancy. Guess what else does that? Yep humans. Morons. Luckily Ben and Jerry's ice cream has a good, nice response. I personally would have just said "Bugger of you bloody wankers". Good think I'm not CEO of Ben and Jerry's.
